We are always open to new types of treatment methods and technology. We are quick to implement sustainable ideas in to the clinical practice whilst keeping it under evaluation to make sure it fits in with the rest of the practice.

One example is time lapse technology. We were the first Norwegian clinic to implement the use of this technology and are now on the forefront in understanding it’s implications and use. Due to this we are constantly invited to hold talks at international medical congresses on our new found knowledge and information.

EmbryoScope is the most important innovation within assisted reproduction.

In order to select the optimal embryo for transfer during an IVF treatment, it is important to have as much information about the developmental potential of an embryo. Previously, this was done with regular microscopes where the number and shape of cells at certain time points were considered. However, it is also important to know when and how the actual cell divisions occur, as well as the time interval between these events.

An EmbryoScope takes an image of each embryo every 10 minutes. This means that we can continually monitor the embryo’s development. We obtain a lot more information about the embryo’s potential for normal development and this makes us better able to select the best embryo for transfer.

Klinikk Hausken was the first Norwegian clinic to obtain this technology, and we have 2 EmbryoScopes in both Haugesund and Bergen. This means that all embryos are developed in these modern incubators, and we are the only clinic in Norway that routinely offer all patients this free of charge.

Our first EmbryoScope was acquired in 2011, and over 10,000 embryos have been observed so far. We have extensive experience in interpreting and applying all the new information. We have learned what`s normal and abnormal development. Due to this extensive knowledge other clinics around the world contact us to learn from our experiences. Our results also show that the use of the EmbryoScope has increased the number of live born babies per embryo transferred has increased by 24%.

Klinikk Hausken are 1st in the world to present a morphokenetic time line indicating levels of success in embryo development for patients undergoing IVF treatment. In 2014, the big topic at ESHRE was that each clinic needs to develop their own time-line, we were 2 years ahead of the curve.

A large prospective study showing that the prognosis of succeeding with continued IVF treatment following several negative attempts in public clinics. The study has been conducted over many years and will be published in 2014/15. Results show that even after 3 or more negative attempts, over 60% succeed when changing clinics.

Ovarian response prediction in controlled ovarian stimulation with 150 μg corifollitropin alfa in a GnRH-antagonist protocol.

The study has investigated how to predict the result of hormone stimulation during assisted reproduction. There are two parameters that contribute to expected stimulation result. One (AFC) can be measured by ultrasound, and the other (AMH) with a blood test.
